Everton could go head-to-head with Manchester United in the race to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, The Sun report.
The Netherlands international has been touted to pursue a bigger challenge this summer, and it could happen before the transfer deadline.
PSV are currently focused on their Champions League play-off second-leg against Rangers, and following the game, Gakpo could leave.
United have been fancied to make a move for the 23-year-old, but it is claimed that the Toffees could offer stiff competition for him.
The Merseyside outfit were monitoring his progress against Rangers in midweek, and Frank Lampard is said to be keen on his services.
PSV are set to demand around £38m plus add-ons for Gakpo. United are leading the race, but Gakpo is not their number one priority.
United could only move for Gakpo if they cannot sign Antony from Ajax.
The Toffees will be hoping that the Red Devils can land Antony this summer such that they have an easy path in signing Gakpo from PSV.
