Chelsea are reportedly planning a surprise move to re-sign Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.
The Blues are currently in advanced talks with Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and he could be signed for around £23 million.
However, manager Thomas Tuchel is also eyeing another marksman, and Sport claim that the club are also interested in re-signing Morata.
Morata previously played for the Blues for two seasons between 2017 and 2019. He bagged 24 goals from 72 appearances in all competitions.
He has since been linked with a possible return to the Premier League, and it is now reported that the Blues are planning a shock swoop for him.
Atletico are prepared to part ways with the 29-year-old before the deadline. They are willing to sell him for a package of around £20 million.
Manchester United were linked with Morata earlier this month, but they seem to have turned their attention to bolstering other key positions.
Chelsea now have a clear route to re-signing Morata. It remains to be seen whether they are serious about reuniting with the Real Madrid graduate.
