Liverpool are reportedly considering a January approach to sign Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan.
The Reds spent the final days of the summer transfer window trying to bolster their midfield department which has been hampered by injuries.
Arthur was signed on loan from Juventus on deadline day, but the Reds could explore the Serie A market once again to reinforce their midfield options in January.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside giants are considering a stunning winter approach to sign Barella, who could be available for a fee of around £60 million.
The Reds are long-term admirers of Barella. They were first linked with him in 2021, and continue to remain interested despite four years left on his Nerazzurri contract.
Barella is not the only player on their radar with reports suggesting that the Reds want to secure a verbal agreement to sign Jude Bellingham from Dortmund in future.
Liverpool have made a poor start to their Premier League season. They have picked up just nine points from six games and are currently 7th in the standings.
