Todd Boehly to back Graham Potter with new signings?

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is expected to back new manager Graham Potter with funds to bolster the squad in January.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move

  • The Blues spent over £270 million on signings during the summer transfer window, but they are still short in some departments.

A new central midfielder remains a potential requirement for the club, considering the injuries associated with N'Golo Kante.

Meanwhile, another striker could also be pursued. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is only regarded as a short-term option for the club.

According to Standard Sport, Potter will be backed with funds at the beginning of the year in order to make at least two signings.

The 47-year-old will make the final transfer decision, but Boehly may ask the Englishman to consider their previous transfer targets.

Ajax's Edson Alvarez was a top target on deadline day, but Ajax turned down a deal worth £43m as they wanted a replacement first.

It remains to be seen whether the Blues return for the Mexico international, particularly after the dismissal of manager Thomas Tuchel.
