Laudrup to take Barca post?

04 May 2008 - 14:31

With so much speculation now that Frank Rijkaard will be leaving the Camp Nou in the Summer, it is being rumoured that Michael Laudrup will be the one to fill Rijkard's boots.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The President of Laudrup's current club, Getafe, has given the strongest hint yet that his coach will be leaving Los Azulones.

"It is a blow that he could leave us and that we cannot have him here for two seasons. But if that happens then we should be proud and continue to work and find ourselves a coach that next year Atlético can take," he explained.

"Each time we supply a coach to the biggest clubs, Valencia, Real Madrid and Barcelona, so now we just need to give Atlético a coach so that everyone can enjoy themselves."

The joke regarding supplying Atlético with their next boss is down to the fact that Getafe have recently seen their coaches head off to the big clubs. With Quique Sanchez Flores leaving in 2005 for Valencia, he was followed out the door by Schuster (now of Real Madrid) and it looks as though Laudrup will be the next to join Spain's elite from Getafe.
