Rio Ferdinand has hit out at the sections of the England crowd that booed David Bentley when he came off the bench in the 3-0 victory against Israel.

A section of the supporters appeared to be venting their disappointment at the former Arsenal player for his decision to refuse to play in the Under-21 European Championships this summer.



Bentley was left out of the England senior squad for the recent friendly with Germany as punishment from Steve McClaren and it could be felt that the supporters took the opportunity to also make their opinion known in the only way possible.



However, England defender Ferdinand was not impressed and claimed it "left a bad taste in the mouth" despite the 3-0 win over Israel.
