Where next for Jeremy Doku?

Jeremy Doku set for England in the near future?

Where next for Jeremy Doku?

09 October 2022 - 11:04

Considered one of Europe's brightest young wingers and an eye for goal, the future destination for Rennes attacker Doku is currently unclear.

  • Enzo Maresca explains why Cole Palmer didn't face Newcastle

  • Several Premier League clubs have expressed some interest in the 5 foot 7 winger, with Arsenal having bid 45 million euros for the Rennes player last summer, and Liverpool also recently linked with the Belgium full international. Even Man Utd have been credited with some interest in the 20-year-old, who has caught the eye with some impressive displays in Ligue 1.

Doku burst on to the scene in his homeland Belgium in 2018, making his debut for Jupiler League giants Anderlecht. After two seasons, it was clear that his future lied further afield, and a transfer to Rennes followed. After two years with his current club, the Antwerp-born youngster has itchy feet and is said to be ready for a move to England in January or next summer.

Arsenal are said to have bid for Doku after a move for Raphinha from Leeds United fell through, with the Brazilian opting for a transfer to Barcelona instead. An arrangement for Jeremy could not be made with the Gunners, and Doku instead has stayed with Rennes. However, it is a matter of time until the club decides to sell the winger, particularly as the club's economic situation appears to be rather poor.

Doku has ten caps for his country, scoring two goals and it is said that Rennes are looking for 60 million euros, double what they paid for the player in 2020.
