Manchester United have their sights on landing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen at the end of the campaign.
The Red Devils spent over £200m on six players during the summer transfer window and this has improved their performances in the league.
The hierarchy have plans of reinforcing the squad further, but Manchester Evening News claim that the rebuild will only resume next summer.
A striker will be one of the top priorities and it is reported that United are keeping a close eye on the performances of Osimhen at Napoli.
The Nigerian is currently the top scorer in the Italian top-flight with nine goals and he has been pivotal to the club's excellent start to the campaign.
Napoli are not looking to sell him at the moment, but the situation could change this summer when he enters the final two years of his contract.
Still, Manchester United won't get him for cheap and they may need to pay in excess of £80 million to prise him away from the Naples outfit.
