Hleb closer to Arsenal exit

08 May 2008 - 21:35

Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb is reportedly heading for the exit door, despite Arsene Wenger's intentions to keep the player at the club. Hleb has been linked with a move to Inter Milan for the last two months, and a move in the summer looks increasingly likely. There has been a host of interest in the player from Serie A; including from Inter Milan.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Hleb has been an impressive performer this season for the Gunners, but despite Arsene Wenger's hope of giving the player a new contract, it seems the player is to reject a deal and look for a challenge elsewhere.

“Alexander is preparing to make one of the most important moves of his life,” Hleb's agent Nikolai Shpilevski told the Daily Mail on Friday.

“He is leaving Arsenal even though they want to offer him a new long-term contract and better conditions. There's no way back now.”

It is believed that if Hleb leaves the club, the Gunners are looking to match the £10 million they paid VfB Stuttgart for him.
