Manchester United have been handed a blow in the pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
The Republic of Ireland international is regarded as one of the best young strikers in the Premier League.
He has already shown glimpses of his potential and has now put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract.
Ferguson has extended his stay until the summer of 2028 with a big pay rise. This is a blow for United.
The Red Devils had identified Ferguson as one of their top summer targets but he won't be available now.
The club will need to focus on alternative options in the transfer market but none may come on the cheap.
Randal Kolo Muani is currently valued at £88m by Eintracht Frankfurt while Harry Kane is priced at £100m.
On the other hand, Napoli want at least £133m for Victor Osimhen.
In comparison, Ferguson was valued in the region of £50m before committing his future to Brighton.
