Tierney discusses possible Arsenal transfer exit

24 July 2023 - 11:00

Scotland and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney has, for the first time, talked about his possible summer transfer departure from the Emirates Stadium. The defender, who is incredibly popular with the Arsenal fan base, has been persistently linked with a move to Newcastle United and former club Celtic.

  • The 26-year-old played second fiddle to Oleksandr Zinchenko last season and that is expected to continue into the new campaign, whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu has also been deployed as a left-back in pre-season. Newcastle were rumoured to be weighing up a £30 million move, but an offer failed to materialise. Former club Celtic are keen, but cannot afford the price tag on the defender.

Tierney told reporters: "It's not up to me. (Regarding a potential move away from Arsenal).

"I’ve not had any discussions with the manager and I’m just working hard every day and trying to do as well as I can. I didn’t miss a single game because of injury last season. I was available for every match and always ready when called upon. I think everyone would agree that I never give less than 100 percent, whether I’m playing or not."

It is understood that £25 million might be a sufficient fee to persuade Arsenal to allow Tierney to leave North London.
