Chelsea have reached an agreement with Rennes to sign midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, according to The Athletic.
The 19-year-old has joined the club for an initial fee of around €27m and the Blues are still undecided over their plans for him.
Ugochukwu is a defensive midfielder by trade. He has been impressive in Ligue 1 since making his breakthrough few years back.
The jump to the Premier League presents a different challenge for him, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will decide on his future.
Pochettino is currently keen on landing Moises Caicedo from Brighton, but the Blues are yet to meet their demands for the player.
Amidst this, the club have made the choice to land Ugochukwu. If he can impress in training, the manager may decide to keep him.
Otherwise, he could be loaned out to sister club Strasbourg for the upcoming campaign. He could be integrated into the squad next season.
Chelsea are planning several signings before the deadline next month.
