Chelsea could turn attention to signing Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams amid the lack of progress with Brighton over Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo has been identified as the Blues' prime target to strengthen the holding midfield department, but they have yet to meet the asking price.
Brighton are currently demanding around £100 million for the 21-year-old, but the Blues are reluctant to pay more than £80m for his services.
As a result, there is an impasse in negotiations between the clubs, and Chelsea are reportedly open to signing an alternative target in the near future.
Adams was one of the best tacklers in the Premier League last season, and he is said to be eyeing a new challenge after Leeds' relegation.
He currently has a relegation release clause of £20m, and the Blues are currently considering the option of purchasing him from Leeds.
Aside from the Blues, the likes of West Ham United and Everton are also keeping tabs and could enter the race for the former Leipzig man.
