Brazilian attacker Marquinhos, who spent last season on loan at Championship club Norwich City, will leave Arsenal for a second consecutive campaign and move to French Ligue 1 side Nantes for the duration of the 2023/24 season. The 20-year-old is very highly rated at the Emirates, but manager Mikel Arteta wants the player to garner more first team experience in a top flight division.
Nantes have agreed a package that will see them pay around half of Marquinhos' salary for the duration of the loan period, which is believed to be around £35,000. The Brazilian youngster had a largely unsuccessful spell with Norwich City, where he scored one goal in 11 league games, and it is hoped that another season away will help build on his progress since arriving at the Emirates from Sao Paulo in 2022.
Marquinhos' spell at Norwich City was marred by a red card for elbowing Huddersfield Town player Josh Ruffels, which was later successfully appealed by the Canaries.
It is understood that there is no option for a permanent deal at conclusion of the player's loan in Nantes.
