19-year-old starlet Andreas Schjelderup is one to watch in the future, as the Norway youth international has finally forced his way into Benfica's future plans despite a loan spell in Denmark with Nordsjaelland. Benfica paid a reported 15 million euros for Schjelderup, and the left winger who can also play up front or behind a striker, is seen as a huge prospect.
In Denmark, the youngster began his career at just 16-years-old for Nordsjaelland, and played for a further three years in the club's first-team squad with his best season coming in 2022-23, with an impressive 10 goals in 17 games for his club. A move to Benfica followed, and the Primeira Liga club opted to send the youngster back to Denmark to play for his former club to garner more first-team experience.
It is said that Schjelderup is the best prospect in Norway since Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard, with the country's football fans excited at the possibility of the trio leading the line in the near future.
Some of Schjelderup's best talents including his ability to hold on to the ball, and dribble forward to create attacking opportunities. He is also a fantastic distributer of the ball, both on the ground and in the air. He is a very tricky attacker that likes to find space in and around the box.
Schjelderup's preferred position is as a left winger, and he likes to cut inside onto his preferred right foot. Benfica will be likely bringing the winger back to compete for a first-team squad next season after a year of experience back in Denmark.
