Manchester United are set to miss out on signing former Chelsea striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Red Devils recently made contact with the representatives of the Germany international over a potential loan move to the club.
Werner gave the green light for the temporary switch, but Tottenham Hotspur have now hijacked the deal with a better proposal on the table.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has convinced the German over regular playing time and the club will insert an option to buy him for €17m.
The attacker is scheduled to travel to London on Sunday to undergo his medical tests and sign a short-term contract for the campaign.
Werner will start training with Spurs immediately and could be in line for his club debut when the London side face United next weekend.
The 27-year-old had a tough Premier League career at Chelsea previously and will be keen to make amends at Spurs in the coming months.
