Manchester United are eyeing a surprise deal for Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi this summer.
The Red Devils are expected to invest in the central defensive department with multiple players due to leave.
Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans have their contracts expiring in June and there could be more departures too.
Amidst this, it is claimed that United have entered the race to sign Lucumi, who is also on the radar of Atletico.
The 25-year-old is a left-footed defender, but he has the ability to play in both central defensive positions with ease.
He could be signed for a relatively low fee of around €25m, and he would represent a good piece of business.
The arrival of Lucumi at Old Trafford could provide the club with the chance to invest big in other positions.
The club are eyeing a new back-up striker while they are also keen on signing a marquee defensive midfielder.
