Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo has confirmed that he had talks over joining Manchester United last season.
The Frenchman was strongly linked with the Red Devils last summer, but a deal did not materialise in the end.
United did not have the funds to purchase him and they did not make a fresh approach at the turn of the year.
Todibo has now revealed that there was a little discussion about joining either United or Tottenham last term.
He said: "Honestly I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also. But we had a little discussion, for sure."
Todibo has been tipped to leave Nice this summer. United could see him as a replacement for Raphael Varane.
Varane will be leaving on a free transfer next month and Todibo could be a like-for-like replacement for him.
The 24-year-old is a strong ball-playing defender who likes to clear his lines and is good with his recoveries.
