Argentine youngster Alan Velasco has caught the eye with dozens of impressive peformances playing for Major League Soccer side FC Dallas. The 21-year-old winger has been earmarked as a potential successor to the great Leo Messi, and has all of the potential and time on his side.
Comfortable playing on either flank, the Quilmes-born starlet is most comfortable on the left wing. He is a real prodigy and is a brilliant dribbler of the ball, has vision and an eye for goal, as noted with his 10 MLS league goals so far.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been monitoring Velasco's progress, but it is understood that the player intends ot stay in the United States to continue his development.
Capped by Argentina's under-17 side, the player unfortunately recently suffered an ACL injury, and underwent surgery in November 2023, however the FC Dallas player is tipped to return to good form.
The player was dubbed "the biggest signing in the club's history" by FC Dallas when he arrived in a transfer worth $7 million in 2022. He had also been linked with numerous leagues to Europe, but opted to stay put.
Andre Zanotta, the FC Dallas technical director said of Velasco: “He's young, but he's so mature. He has such a good understanding of what's going on and even the relationship he had with his agents – that he's in control, different than other kids at this age. So he really showed a lot of personality to us.”
One of the player's best attributes is his versatility - comfortable playing anywhere in the midfield - but he is also able to play as a forward.
Keep an eye out for this prodigious talent, he could be playing in Europe very soon.
