Arsenal seem unlikely to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in the ongoing transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The north London giants have been monitoring the Sweden international for the last few months, but they are yet to make a formal move.
Romano now reports that Arsenal are admirers of the former Brighton man, but they are unwilling to meet the demands of Sporting.
The Portuguese champions want the striker's €100m release clause to be paid in full which seems impossible for the London giants.
Arsenal prefer to pay something around €80m for the striker and that would also depend on Sporting accepting a long-term payment plan.
With Sporting reluctant to change their transfer stance, Arsenal could turn their attention to bolstering other positions this summer.
Instead of landing a new striker, the focus could be on pursuing a marquee winger to provide support and competition to Bukayo Saka.
The Gunners have not given up on landing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao despite his ambition to join La Liga giants Barcelona.
