Steve Bruce has admitted that he would one day like to be Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Old Trafford. The Wigan coach has a close relationship with many at United and would inevitably jump at the opportunity in the future when Sir Alex retires.
Bruce said: "Whether you are playing or managing, you want to get to the top of your profession."
"You are always striving to be good and if you are going to do this job then why not set you aspirations and sights on going to the very top.
"If I can or if I get the opportunity then who knows?
"Eight months ago, I would have been lucky to have got the Scunthorpe job. It's very surprising how quickly things can turn around."
