Manchester United have opened talks with Burnley over the signing of midfielder Sander Berge, according to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils are determined to land a new defensive midfielder and they have been linked with multiple options this summer.
Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain was a top name on their radar, but the club have decided against pursuing a deal for him.
PSG want around £52 million for the former Sporting Lisbon man. United are in no position to pay a fee with a limited budget.
Hence, they are looking at alternative options and Sky Sports claim that talks are underway with Burnley to recruit Berge.
The 26-year-old has already given the green light for the transfer and the onus is on United to agree a fee with the Clarets.
Burnley are eyeing around £30m for their Player of the Year, but United are optimistic of landing his services for £20-25m.
The arrival of Berge could coincide with the departure of Scott McTominay, who is a top target for London outfit Fulham.
