Arsenal failed to sign three high-profile players during the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.
The Gunners were determined to land a new striker at the start of the summer and they were confident of signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
However, Sesko eventually put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Leipzig, but he could contemplate a new challenge at the end of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the club were also exploring a deal for Nico Williams. They were prepared to trigger his release clause, but a move did not materialise.
Williams did not want to leave his boyhood club for another year and Arsenal were forced to accept defeat in the pursuit of the 22-year-old.
The Gunners also considered a surprise swoop for Jamal Musiala from Bayern, but the German giants had no desire to sanction his departure.
As a result, Arsenal did not make any marquee attacking additions, but they were able to land Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea on deadline day.
