Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes won't be involved in the upcoming Europa League game against Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
The Portugal international had a dismal run of performances before the October international break. He was sent off in quick succession.
Fernandes initially received a red card against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, but his sending-off was rescinded in the end.
However, in the next game, he received his marching orders against Porto. The Portuguese was brandished two yellow cards on the road.
As a result, the United captain won't be in the matchday squad on Thursday.
United face a daunting challenge against Fenerbahce away from home. They will need to find a fresh solution in the number 10 role.
Christian Eriksen can play there comfortably, but he could be required in central midfield alongside Manuel Ugarte if Casemiro is injured.
In that case, Joshua Zirkzee could be picked in the spot, considering the Dutchman has the ability to link-up play from deeper positions.
