Valencia have decided to appoint Unai Emery as their new coach for next season after they reached an agreement with the highly rated 36-year old.
Unai Emery is currently the coach of Spanish first division side Almeria whom he guided to the top flight at the end of the 2006-2007 season and then led them to within a few points of an unlikely UEFA Cup spot.
Emery has always been speculated to move onto a bigger club and it now appears that Valencia have decided to appoint him as their new coach. Emery held a meeting with former Valencia president Juan Soler, current president AgustÃÂn Morera, director of communications, Jesús Wolstein and sporting director Juan Sánchez.
At the meeting, Emery was assured that there would no massive clear-out of players are trumpted by the media cheerleaders but one major player, conceivable David Villa, would have to be offloaded.
Unai Emery was also guaranteed that there would be no boardroom problem that rocked Valencia last season.
Almeria too have accepted Unai Emery's decision to move on. Club president Alfonso GarcÃÂa said:
"We wish the best to Unai. He was very comfortable here, but he was attracted by the size and history of Valencia and we know it is a great opportunity for him."
Unai Emery is the latest development in Valencia's poicy of appointing young, dynamic and innocative coached after Rafael Benitez and Quique Sanchez Flores.
