The Uruguayan has been heavily linked with a move away from the Blaugrana in recent weeks, but he has now sorted his future.

He had a meeting with sporting director Deco yesterday and reports claim that he has agreed to extend his contract expiring at the end of next season.

The decision is a potential blow for the Gunners and Juventus. The duo were monitoring the defender with a view to a mid-season transfer.

Araujo's decision to continue with the Catalan giants could pave the way for the departure of Andreas Christensen over the coming weeks.

Christensen has been tipped to head for the exit door for some time and Barcelona could be open to listening to offers with Araujo set to extend.

United have made contact with the agents of Christensen in the past.
