Bayern Munich wonderkid Mathys Tel has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan despite interest from Manchester United.
Spurs tried to sign Tel on a permanent deal worth €60 million last week, but the forward was not interested in the proposed transfer.
United entered the race soon after, but they could not finalise a suitable loan deal. They failed to agree on the buy clause figure.
Tel has now chosen to join Spurs on a straight loan until the summer.
The news is a huge setback for the Red Devils, who have failed to replace Marcus Rashford and Antony in the current window.
The duo were loaned out to Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively, but the club have not entered the market for a replacement.
The hierarchy are apparently happy with the current options and any major investment is set to be delayed until the season ends.
United suffered their 11th defeat of the Premier League campaign yesterday as Crystal Palace beat them by a 2-0 scoreline.
