Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Raheem Sterling's performance following the 2-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on the road.
The England international started on the left wing against the Foxes following unexpected injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz this month.
Sterling did not provide anything in an attacking point of view. He failed to win his duels and was also guilty of being offside as well as losing possession.
Sterling was eventually replaced by Mikel Merino in the 69th minute. The Spaniard made the difference with a brilliant brace.
Speaking after the game, Arteta was asked about Sterling's lack of rhythm. He responded saying:
"Everybody [needs rhythm]. In the first half, especially in the first 20-25 minutes, we weren’t at our standards and when that happens, you look to the front players."
Sterling was one of the worst performers on the pitch, and he could be dropped to the bench when Arsenal host West Ham United later this month.
