Arsenal remain interested in landing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak at the end of the season, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Gunners are expected to spend big on a marquee striker this summer. Isak is reportedly the top target, but a deal won't be easy to pull off.
The Magpies recently won the Carabao Cup against Liverpool. It was their first major silverware in seven decades. They are eyeing more success.
The club are determined to finish in the Champions League spots in the Premier League. In that case, Isak may not be available in the transfer market.
In case they miss out on the competition, the door could be open for the Gunners to sign him, but the Magpies are still expected to demand a big fee.
The Gunners paid a club-record £105 million for Declan Rice two years ago and the Magpies could demand a higher sum to part ways with Isak.
The 25-year-old has netted 20 non-penalty goals for the Magpies this season.
