Sir Alex Ferguson wants Wayne Rooney to be more selfish next season if he is to begin scoring more goals. The England international turned provider this year as he helped Cristiano Ronaldo grab 42 goals.

  • Sir Alex said: "Sometimes Wayne is too much of a team player. He's not a selfish player and he's not a selfish boy.



    "He's a committed winner, that's his problem, so he does a lot of sacrifice which doesn't reflect on his overall performance. But as a team player he is absolutely fantastic.



    "He's said to me half a dozen times: 'I'll play centre-half. I played centre-half at school you know.'



    "Then I say to him: 'Yes Wayne, but we're playing against Drogba!' It's not a trouble or a problem with him. It's a fantastic asset.



    "We know what we are going to have to do and work with Wayne in terms of his right position because even now I'm not so sure what his right position is sometimes.
