Liverpool are close to securing an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong over a summer transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Merseyside giants are searching a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract expires on June 30. He is poised to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Romano now reports that talks are advanced over personal terms with Frimpong and a 'deal is close' to being finalised for the Netherlands international.
Once a contract is verbally agreed, Arne Slot's side will move forward and trigger the £30 million release clause in his Leverkusen contract.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Frimpong in the past, but the defender seems to prefer a move to Anfield instead.
Frimpong is an attack-minded right-back just like Alexander-Arnold. He has bagged five goals and 12 assists from 49 matches this campaign.
He is not the best when it comes to defensive situations. He has a brilliant recovery pace but still needs to improve on his decision-making.
