Liverpool have agreed a club-record package of £116 million to purchase Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz this summer, according to David Ornstein.
The Merseyside giants were initially anticipated to sign the German for a club-record fee of £127m, but they have managed to negotiate a lower price for an agreement.
As part of the deal, the Premier League champions will pay £100m as a fixed fee for the playmaker with the remaining £16m in the form of bonuses related to winning trophies.
Wirtz is expected to undergo his medical after his vacation. The transfer will therefore be put on hold until pre-season. The Reds have been very active in the early phase of the summer.
They have already secured deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Wirtz from Leverkusen. The club are also close to landing Milos Kerkez from Premier League counterparts Bournemouth.
A marquee striker could be targeted too in the coming weeks. Napoli star Victor Osimhen is one of the names under consideration.
