Reina save denies Pompey

Reina save denies Pompey

15 September 2007 - 14:08

Portsmouth and Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw at Fratton Park thanks to Pepe Reina making an all important penalty save from Kanu. Liverpool's partnership of Crouch and Voronin up front were largely ineffective, and Portsmouth battled and will be delighted with a point.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Portsmouth were awarded the penalty after Alvaro Arbeloa was adjudged to have tugged Kanu's shirt inside the box, but the Nigerian saw his effort superbly saved by Reina.

Voronin went close a few times, and Xabi Alonso went off with an injury. Gerrard and Fernando Torres later came on, but it was not enough for Liverpool who had to settle for a point.
