Ben Chilwell is a surprise target for Manchester United this summer, as the Chelsea defender has been informed that he has no future at Chelsea. Blues' manager Enzo Maresca has indicated that Chilwell will serve no major role this season at Stamford Bridge, and can depart on loan for one more season, having just spent the 2024-25 campaign with FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.
Palace opted not to sign Chilwell on a permanent basis, however Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim has suggested that the club need to sign a backup left-back and England international Chilwell offers a cut price alternative to Luke Shaw who has struggled with form and injuries in recent years.
Chilwell would also be allowed to depart on a permanent basis after his loan spell ends, with an estimated transfer value of £7.5 million for the left-sided defender.
It is understood that, according to reports from Manchester, United have already opened talks with regard to a loan deal for Chilwell and are increasingly confident that an agreement can be swiftly reached.
