Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo is being monitored by Sunderland and Newcastle both, as the 23-year-old appears to be set for a transfer to the Premier League. With 34 Ligue 1 goals in 93 games for Rennes, the highly rated striker could move to Newcastle as a replacement for Alexander Isak, whilst Brentford are seeking a new forward with uncertainty surrounding the future of Yoane Wissa.
Arnaud Kalimuendo is a quick, intelligent striker known for his sharp movement in the box, composed finishing, and ability to link play with clever one-touch passes.
Kalimuendo caught the eye last season with a decent return of 17 goals in 33 games, and appears destined for England with Newcastle ready to pay £33 million pricetag whilst Brentford have already matched the £35 million the French side are hoping to recoup.
The striker, who came through Paris St Germain's youth ranks, is believed to be in more advanced negotiations with Brentford than Newcastle, as the Bees look to spend some of the £80 million budget for selling Bryan Mbuemo.
His ability to combine clever runs with efficient finishing would slot neatly into Brentford’s counter-attacking patterns or Newcastle’s high-energy pressing game, while his versatility across the front line offers depth and tactical flexibility for both clubs.
