Alves tracked by Pompey

16 September 2007 - 22:25

Heerenveen's Brazilian striker Afonso Alves is being tracked by Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp. Portsmouth's attack looked rather blunt vs. Liverpool at the weekend, despite playing Utaka, Kanu and Benjani.

  • Chelsea defender suspended for four games after red card

  • Afonso Alves had been linked with Middlesbrough several times over the summer, but the Teeside club plucked Mido from Spurs instead.

However, it is believed Portsmouth are searching for a long-term striker to fill in for Kanu.
