Chelsea defender suspended for four games after red card
Chelsea defender Reece James will be suspended for four domestic games following his sending off against Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.
The club captain has had an injury-plagued campaign with the Blues and he came on as a late substitute in the recent win over the Seagulls.
However, he was sent off after a needless kick-out. As per Premier League rules, he will now be suspended for four top-flight matches.
This was James' second red card of the league campaign. He will be unavailable for the season finale as well as three games next season.
The news will be disappointing for Blues fans. James is considered as one of the best players in the world despite his recent injury concerns.
The England international will be hoping to make amends next season. His first focus should be on staying fit for the entire campaign.
Malo Gusto, who has started at left-back in James' absence, is expected to continue in the role when the Blues host Bournemouth on Sunday.
