Both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are hopeful that a deal can be concluded to sign French under-21 forward Dilane Bakwa before the transfer window closes on September 1st. Bakwa has been on the books at Strasbourg since 2023, and has scored 9 goals in 62 Ligue 1 games for the club.
It is understood that Bakwa is to prefer a switch to Leeds United as he feels the offer of regular first-team football is more likely, as Leeds have yet to decide on their attacking trio from Noah Okafor, Joel Piroe and Wilfried Gnonto, whilst Forest have plenty of options including Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi to choose from.
The transfer move will cost around 35 million euros, and the player is committed to a transfer to England, despite interest from several German clubs. With Leeds, Dakwa will demand a relegation release clause as part of a deal, but at Forest the offer of European football will certainly be a consideration.
Dakwa prefers to operate as a right winger, but can also play on the left and has on occasion been deployed as a centre forward.
