Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as genuine candidates to land Xavi Simons ahead of Chelsea, according to The Telegraph.
The north London giants are keen on bolstering their attack before the transfer deadline and Simons is one of the top names on their radar.
The Dutchman has been a top target for Chelsea over the past month, but they have yet to make a formal approach for his services.
The Blues want to offload Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku first to purchase him, but Simons may not stay patient for long.
Amidst this, Spurs have joined the pursuit and prepared to lure the former Paris Saint-Germain man to north London before the deadline.
Simons will be guaranteed the number 10 role at Spurs this season, considering the long-term injury for James Maddison.
Maddison sustained a serious knee issue in pre-season and he has already been ruled out for the majority of the current campaign.
Spurs are eyeing another attacker alongside Simons.
