Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez did not contemplate a move to Chelsea during the recently concluded summer transfer window.
The Spaniard was linked with the Blues during the closing stages after Xavi Simons made the move to Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The Blues made an opening bid of 40 million euros for the talented playmaker, but the offer was quickly knocked back.
Chelsea did not return with a fresh proposal, and it is now claimed that Lopez did not consider any new challenge away from Barcelona.
He was always determined to stay with the La Liga giants despite not having the guarantee of a starting position under manager Hansi Flick.
With the lack of progress for Lopez, the Blues eventually signed Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Facundo Bounanotte on a season-long loan.
The Seagulls made it clear that the Argentine has a future at the club and he will be reintegrated into their squad at the end of the current campaign.
