Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has made an excuse about injuries following the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues took an early lead through Alejandro Garnacho earlier today, but the Black Cats managed to pull level through Wilson Isidor.
Chelsea pushed for the winner in the second half, but the Black Cats eventually bagged a stoppage time goal through Chemsdine Talbi.
Speaking after the game, Maresca said that the likes of Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are carrying injuries at the moment.
He said: "I think Joao is not training every day because he is managing an injury problem. Moi is the same, Enzo is the same. We have four or five players that have some problems and cannot work every day."
With the loss, the Blues have dropped to eighth in the league standings with 14 points and could drop further based on tomorrow's results.
Chelsea will take on Wolves in the Carabao Cup fourth round next.
