Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has said that the team showed plenty of character following their 1-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners picked up a fourth-straight league victory earlier on Sunday. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring in the 39th minute, and it was sufficient to secure maximum points.
Speaking after the 1-0 win, Timber said that the Gunners showed plenty of character and have to win such games to fight for the league title.
He said: "If you want to compete and fight for the title, you have to win these games. Last season we lost points against Crystal Palace. The team showed character. There are loads of things still that we can do better."
The Gunners dropped a couple of points against Palace in the same fixture last season. They made amends this time around with a hard-fought victory.
As a result, they are four points clear at the top of the standings. The club have a six and seven-point lead over Manchester City and Liverpool, who are the main challengers.
