Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie could be sidelined for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium tonight.
The Ecuador international has been a mainstay in the left centre-back position for the Gunners since a thigh injury sustained by Gabriel Magalhaes.
However, his inclusion in the matchday squad against Palace remains in doubt following a shoulder injury sustained in the league win at Everton.
Hincapie picked up a painful knock on his shoulder after colliding with Riccardo Calafiori early on and was not spotted in training yesterday.
An insider has revealed that the central defender could be left out of the squad altogether to recover before the league games against Brighton and Aston Villa before the turn of the year.
Calafiori is poised to partner William Saliba in the heart of the defence tonight in that case. Myles Lewis-Skelly could come in the left-back role with Jurrien Timber on the opposite end.
