'Outstanding': Mikel Arteta praises 27yo Arsenal star after NLD win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hailed striker Viktor Gyokeres following the club's 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners went into the game with a two-point lead over Manchester City and the pressure was on them to increase the advantage by beating Spurs.

Eberechi Eze opened the scoring in the opening half but Spurs equalised soon after through Randal Kolo Muani after an error from Declan Rice.

However, Arsenal stepped up after the interval. Viktor Gyokeres scored two goals, while Eze also completed his brace against Tottenham on the road.

Speaking after the game, Arteta hailed the performance of Gyokeres, who probably had his best match in the Gunners shirt this campaign.

He said: "He was outstanding today, I thought. There have been glimmers of it every week but today, I thought he was fantastic."

Gyokeres, 27, has now registered 10 goals in the Premier League this term. Across all competitions, he has netted 15 times with two assists.
