Manchester United have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are expected to reinforce their midfield options at the end of the season. There is a possibility that they could sign two marquee midfielders.
A holding midfielder is the prime priority for the Mancunian giants, but a new number six could be signed too. Amidst this, it is claimed that United have moved in the front row ahead of Arsenal in the race for Tonali.
The 25-year-old Italian has been a terrific performer for the Magpies over the past few years, but he has his sights on a bigger challenge with Champions League football next term.
United are currently in a strong position to qualify for the competition. They are eight points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League and are well placed to make their return.
Tonali could cost at least £80 million at the end of the season.
