Chelsea interim manager Calum McFarlane has hailed the performance of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after the club's progress to the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The Blues recently suffered a fifth straight Premier League loss without scoring, which paved the way for Liam Rosenior's dismissal from the head coach position.
McFarlane was placed on interim charge immediately, and he guided the Blues to the FA Cup final with a 1-0 win over Leeds United. Enzo Fernandez scored the winner.
Sanchez was also brilliant between the sticks for the Blues. He made three saves and looked resolute in goal without any kind of shortcomings.
Speaking after the game, McFarlane said that the Spain international was at his best against Leeds, and he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world in such moments.
He said: "That's Rob Sanchez at his best. That's what we expect from him. That's what he's capable of doing. He's one of the best in the world in those moments, and thankfully, he delivered today."
Chelsea may have to win the FA Cup to qualify for the Europa League next term, given they are languishing eighth in the league with just 48 points with four matches remaining.
