Aston Villa are reportedly ready to make Mohamed Amoura one of their primary transfer targets this summer as Unai Emery looks to add more speed, movement and unpredictability to his attacking options.
The Wolfsburg forward has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs for some time, but Villa's interest now appears to be stepping up. Emery wants more depth across the front line and Amoura's profile is easy to understand. He is quick, aggressive, versatile and capable of playing through the middle or from the left. That flexibility would make him a useful addition for a Villa side that needs to balance domestic football with another push in Europe.
Amoura has enjoyed another productive campaign in Germany. In the Bundesliga this season, he has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 29 appearances. He has also registered 55 shots on goal, shown impressive work rate off the ball and reached a top speed of around 35 km/h, underlining why clubs see him as such a dangerous transition forward. Last season, he was even more productive, finishing with 10 goals and nine assists in 31 Bundesliga games, which helped establish him as one of Wolfsburg's most exciting attacking players.
Villa's need for another forward is clear. Ollie Watkins remains the main man, but Emery could use another explosive option who can stretch defences, rotate across the attack and offer a different type of threat. Amoura is not a classic target man, but he is sharp in behind, lively in the box and awkward for defenders because of how quickly he changes direction.
The fee will be the difficult part. Wolfsburg signed Amoura from Union Saint-Gilloise in a deal worth around €14.8m, and his current valuation is now believed to be closer to €30m to €36m. If Villa make a formal move, Wolfsburg are unlikely to sell cheaply, especially with Premier League clubs involved. A realistic package could land somewhere around £28m to £35m, depending on bonuses and the strength of rival bids.
