Arsenal are in advanced negotiations to land Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners are determined to land a marquee midfielder this summer and have earmarked Guimaraes as the prime target.
The 28-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the club and reports claim that the hierarchy are pushing for a deal.
They are preparing a renewed £75m bid for Guimaraes and are optimistic that could be enough to persuade the Magpies into a sale.
Arsenal have had a difficult transfer window thus far, and have made just a solitary outfield signing in the form of Christos Tzolis.
However, much more transfer activity is expected in the coming weeks as the Gunners seek to boost their chances of defending their league title.
A marquee left winger could be targeted alongside Guimaraes, and Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior remains an ambitious target for the Gunners.
A formal bid for the 26-year-old could be made pretty soon.
