Middlesbrough are believed to have made a £7 million offer to land Shakhtar Donetsk's long serving defender, Dario Srna. The Croatian player was one of his country's star players during Euro 2008.
However, Srna has always maintained that he would consider a move away from Ukraine if the offer was right; and if the club me this ambitions. Srna had already been linked with a move from Shakhtar to Man City.
Now Gareth Southgate, the Middlesbrough coach, has made a £7 million offer to bring Srna to the club - but it is believed a figure closer to £10 million may persuade Shakhtar to sell one of their prized assets.
There are likely to be several other teams in Europe ready to make an offer for the Croatian.
