Keane signs for Liverpool

29 July 2008 - 09:43

Liverpool have completed the signing of Robbie Keane from Tottenham, for a fee believed to be around £20.3 million. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy insisted that this was 'an enforced sale' rather than a transfer as the club wished to keep the Irishman.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Now Keane has signed a lucrative £80,000 a week wage packet at Liverpool; a deal that will make him one of the highest earning footballers at Anfield.

It is now understood that Liverpool have diverted their attentions away from Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry.

Tottenham are believed to be happy with their squad for next season; and as Darren Bent showed last night - grabbing four goals in a friendly against Norwich - he is more than capable of stepping up to the plate.

It is also rumoured that Juande Ramos could well play a 4-5-1 formation next year, with Berbatov up front and Modric and Giovanni dos Santos behind him.
